What is Digital Media used for ?
Digital media is used in many aspects of daily life. Some areas which make heavy use of digital media include :
- e-music : e-music is music stored in digital form. Once in this form, the music may be easily stored and manipulated using computers and computer related devices like the iPod.
- digital newspapers and digital magazines (e-zines): Digital newspapers and e-zines are computerised versions of traditional newpapers and magazines. The digital versions of these offer many extended services like updates via email or SMS as well as animations, hypertext, sound and video information.
- interactive TV : The newer digital television services offer increased levels of interactivity with the user allowing such things as a choice of camera andgles or differing endings to a movie.
- games : games make extensive use of digital media including text, sound, animation and video footage. .

2. Visit each of the pages listed here and learn about how Music, Newspapers, TV and Games use Digital Media. In your notebooks, create your own summary of the pages listed below to provide extra information about each of the uses for digital media.

1. On your Digital Media web page, Make a heading called e-Music and write about how you personally use e-Music in your life, including CD's, Mp3s (or similar) as well as other media players and/or mobile phones. You may wish to investigate services like »i-Tunes and discuss what they are and why they would be used. You may wish to include sample songs, and/or links to web sites you fiind useful (At least 500 words)
2. On your Digital Media web page, Make a heading called Digital Newspapers and write a review of one digital newspaper/e-Zine you find interesting. Include : What the site is about, What kind of content it has, Whay its so good, as well as a link to the site (200 words).
3. Play some of the games (»like Zork) listed on the Notes about Games Page. On your Digital Media web page, Make a heading called e-Games and complete one (or more) of the following tasks :
- Create a walk-through (written description) of how to find the troll in Zork I. (Don't cheat and download one from the web!!)
- Play Pong »here and create a flash animation simulating the game of pong (it doesn't have to be an interactive simulation - just moving paddles and a bouncing ball) Don't cheat and download one from the web!!
- Write a review of your favourite computer game and include : The game's name, what happens in the game, why you like it, screen-shots of the game.
