Inputs and Outputs
A robot is any device that :
- Has a physical body
- Has a program or set of instructions to follow and it can follow these instructions without human intervention.
- The program or instructions can be changed
- Displays some kind of behaviour.
Robots work by receiving data from thenenvironment (Inputs) and performing some behaviour by moving parts, or making sounds or making light (Outputs)
Questions
- Define the term inputs and outputs
- Describe the difference between an input and an input device.
- Describe the difference between an output and an output device

Outputs
- Follow the instructions in the Mindstorm booklet (pages 4-7) to create a zoobot
- Run the built-in program "1" and answer the following questions in your work book (You will need to draw pictures to describe the answers)
- How can you use program 1 to make the robot go backwards
- How can you use program 1 to make the robot go forewards
- How can you use program 1 to make the robot go in circles
Inputs
- Follow instructions in the Mindstorm booklet to make a touch sensor for your zoobot
- Run the built-in program "5"
- Write in your booklet a description of what program 5 does. Make sure you use the words Input and Output in your answer.
